Be Empowered with Solid Technique!

We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of Dreams.”—Arthur O'Shaughnessy

In trying out for the star role of Cinderella, Stephanie knew that I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady, if done right, would win her the lead role. Her only problem was at the climax of the song her voice would consistently crack and she was unable to sustain the high G. When she came to me several weeks before her audition, she brought with her an entirely different piece not because she wanted to sing it but because it was something she thought she could sing well.

What Stephanie didn't realize is that inspiration and solid technique go hand-in- hand. Because her technique was lacking, she found herself willing to settle for a less inspiring piece. But what I want to assure, as your vocal coach, is that you have the technical foundation to sing whatever YOU WANT to sing and not base your choices on vocal limitations. Stephanie and I spent the next few weeks cultivating instead a solid foundation for the piece that inspired her the most. The result was that she nailed the notes she needed to hit both with skill and emotion, and she also nailed that lead role. Never let lack of solid technique make your choices for you. Let's build the foundation together to empower you to sing whatever makes your heart soar!

Be Heard by Finding Your Audience!

A true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires others.”— Salvadore Dali

The first time I heard Mathew sing, it was clear he had spent years with former coaches developing a strong vocal technique based on solid principles. After his recitals, school productions, and coffee shops gigs, many audience members approached him for information about how they could hear more from him or when they would see his album, but he didn't know the first thing about recording, let alone writing his own compelling songs. He felt kind of stuck.

Mathew’s difficulty was not having connections with the music industry to help propel his solo career forward. We started with songwriting workshops to help Mathew develop his own writing style to express who he is as an artist. Since I first started working with Mathew, he has released a solo album of original work, booked a Western US tour, playing for paying gigs, and opening for headlining tours. Never let lack of knowledge about the music industry or how to cultivate an audience make choices for you. Let's set goals together to empower you to share your voice with the world!

Be YOU by Cultivating Your Own Artistic Voice!

Be YOU by Cultivating Your Own Artistic Voice!

"The artist must possess the courageous soul that dares and defies.”—Kate Chopin

Laura started voice lessons with me a week after settling into her new college dorm room. When we started working on her audition pieces for the college choir program, she looked more like she was getting ready for a funeral. When I asked her about it, she shifted uncomfortably. “We didn't listen to rock music in my home growing up. We weren't even allowed to sing popular songs. But I am so tired of classical music and musical theater. What I really want is to be in a rock band.” Her hands were shaking. This is the first time I've ever told anybody that.”

Laura’s honesty was the beginning of her finding her authentic voice. I started helping her identify artists whose music she had heard at school that had inspired her. In just a few lessons, we brought out the power in her own voice within the new genre. Then we worked to bring out her own style. As she began to develop her artistic identity, her confidence skyrocketed and she began to think of ways to share her new authentic voice with friends and family who gladly embraced this happier version of Laura. Never let fear or lack of confidence make choices for you. Let's work together to identify the beautiful individual within who is seeking full expression and who is ready to shine!
